This course will investigate the History of Canada during the 20th Century.
Our studies will focus on
Canada as a developing nation. Canada’s role in two Great Wars will be examined. The nation in the
Roaring Twenties, and the struggles throughout the ‘Dirty Thirties’ will be discussed. The remaining units
will look at Canada and its place in the world.

1. DAY TO DAY WORK 45%
A/ Class or Responsibility Mark; Attendance will be recorded daily on a time line sheet. Punctuality and having ALL the needed books ( Including Planner) at the start of class will be considered. This also the subjective evaluation by the teacher concerning attitude, discipline, self-discipline, interaction with peers, etc. That is, HOW HARD DID YOU OR ARE YOU TRYING? (15%)
B/ Daily Work; will be checked regularly. This includes homework, video sheets, completed, notes, maps, note book checks, etc.. (30%).
If you have missed a class for any reason you must take the responsibility to talk to me as soon as possible to find out what work you missed and if there were any assignments to do. NEVER use the excuse “I didn’t know about that.”
Concerning Late Assignments: Late Penalties (10)% per day)
usually will apply to all assignments.
3. MSIP ASSIGNMENTS 10%
You will be given MSIP work in packages that will allow you to do them in a set period of time. This work must be done and handed in on the given date.
4. INDEPENDENT AND GROUP PROJECTS 15%
These will be projects that will use class time to research and do the projects. Some will be done on your own while other projects will be done in groups. Sometimes you will be able to choose your own partners and other times I will choose for you.
5. UNIT TESTS 20%
Each unit covered (except the last which will be highlighted on the final exam) will have a test.
|IF : you are absent on the assigned day and IF you cannot write
the test at a mutually convenient time AND before the tests are due to be
returned to the class, that test will count as a ZERO and be
added into the average allowed. If you choose to SKIP or do not have a satisfactory reason to explain your absence the day of a test; you will receive a ZERO and will be added into the average allowed.
4. FINAL (Year End) EXAMINATION: 10 %
The final exam will be written during the last few days of class. This will be an open book test and will be based on the whole years work. If you have a complete and well organized workbook, you will do great.
